The Lonliest Highway

The Mountain Riders were up early and began the lonely ride up Highway 50 exiting only to have our passports signed. Our first stop was the tiny town of Fernley, which had barely awakened when we arrived. I spotted the Lazy Inn and the owners were two lovely people who not only signed our passports, but gave us great information. What a great marketing tool. What I learned is that if you ride a motorcycle and get get your passport signed in all 5 cities, not only do you get a certificate from the governor, you get a pin for your vest! Our next stop was Skip's Market in Fallon. Then onto the really teeny town of Austin for gas and a signature. At long last we stopped for lunch and a signature in the optimistically named town of Eureka. Honestly, how these places stay populated. Our final destination for the day- Ely. We happily checked in at the Nevada Hotel, got the final signature, mailed our cards off, and went to check out our $45 room. Let me just say that it is a good thing we don't like to dance in our rooms. It is cute though. And there is gambling.
About the long and lonely ride. There is a blessing in long stretches of nothing. I will leave you all with that thought. Love to all, Jenson

  2. The trip through Nevada can be lovely, if you like scrub brush, tumbleweeds and sand LOL I enjoyed it when we rode through there. It's the trip, not the destination, that makes the whole thing worth it. Happy trails!

  3. I think that certificate will be the perfect cubicle decoration to remind you how awesome you are OUTSIDE of being a social worker.

And to remind you of long stretches of nothing and how much you can hear in the noise of complete silence.
